BREEZ

Public maker guides

Choose your BREEZ build.

Build your own particulate matter sensor and connect it to the BREEZ platform. Choose the version that fits your tools, time and maker skills.

Build options

Two ways to build BREEZ.

Both sensors use the Sensirion SPS30 and can connect to the BREEZ platform. The difference is the build complexity, enclosure, interface and power setup.

Finished portable BREEZ display dust sensor

Portable display build

A more complete BREEZ sensor with screen, battery, buttons and a portable enclosure. Best if you want local readout, battery power and the full standalone device experience.

Difficulty: AdvancedInterface: Display + buttonsPower: BatteryFeedback: On-screen valuesBest for: portable workshop measurements
Finished BREEZ SuperMini RGB LED dust sensor

SuperMini RGB LED build

A simpler BREEZ sensor with ESP32-C3 SuperMini, SPS30 and RGB LED glow. Fewer parts, no screen and no battery circuit. Best as a cleaner first build or fixed workshop sensor.

Difficulty: EasierInterface: RGB LED glowPower: USBFeedback: Air quality colorBest for: first build or fixed placement

Which one should I build?

Choose the Display build if:

  • You want a portable sensor.
  • You want PM values visible on the device.
  • You are comfortable with a more compact soldering and assembly process.
  • You want the full standalone build.

Choose the SuperMini build if:

  • You want the easiest BREEZ entry point.
  • You are happy with USB power.
  • You want simple air quality feedback through RGB LED glow.
  • You want fewer parts and a faster build.

About BREEZ

Built by makers. Open for learning.

The BREEZ dust sensor and the BREEZ platform were developed within the Capturing Dust community to make prototyping and research with particulate matter sensors accessible to makers.

Both builds use off-the-shelf electronics and are designed to be assembled, repaired and modified by the maker community.
